Bareilly: A one-day international Indo-Taiwan workshop on the theme “Global Perspective on Education, Culture and Innovation” was organised at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University in collaboration with the Education Center of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India (TECC).

The workshop was jointly organised by the university’s Centre of Excellence for Multilingual Studies and the Directorate of International Relations at the conference hall of the RIF Building on the university campus.

The programme aimed to familiarise students with global educational opportunities, cultural exchange, innovation, Mandarin language learning, and Taiwan’s higher education system.

The event commenced with the welcome of guests, followed by a welcome song and self-introduction presentations in Mandarin by students, reflecting growing enthusiasm for foreign language education among students of the university.

In her welcome address, Prof. Anita Tyagi said the workshop served as an important platform for connecting students with global education, culture, and innovation. She highlighted that foreign language learning today acts as a bridge for communication, culture, employment, and international relations.

She also credited Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. P. Singh for his visionary leadership in strengthening multilingual education at the university. Along with Mandarin, the centre currently offers diploma programmes in French, German, and Spanish languages.

Mandarin instructor Chiali Chen encouraged students to learn the language through cultural understanding and lifestyle integration.

Meanwhile, Neeraj provided detailed information about Taiwan’s education system, scholarships, and higher education opportunities available for Indian students.

Jill Lai said there are immense possibilities for educational and cultural collaboration between India and Taiwan and appreciated the university’s efforts in promoting international academic engagement.

Director of the Directorate of International Relations Prof. S. S. Bedi stated that such international workshops strengthen the university’s global identity and encourage students to develop language skills, cultural understanding, and international exposure.

Students actively interacted with TECC representatives and raised queries related to studying in Taiwan, scholarship procedures, and future academic opportunities.

At the conclusion of the programme, guests were taken on a tour of the university campus, including the Panchal Museum, sports complex, central library, Directorate of Research, and administrative building.

The workshop was described as an important step towards the internationalisation of the university, with the institution continuing to organise programmes that provide students with global exposure and academic opportunities beyond regional boundaries.
